Das ERASMUS-Pogramm

Was ist ERASMUS?

ERASMUS ist das Studienprogramm der Europäischen Union zur Förderung der Europäischen Integration von Studierenden. ERASMUS ermöglicht ein Auslandsstudium an europäischen Partneruniversitäten.

Leistungen für Dich:

• Auslandsstudium von einem oder zwei Semestern (Min. 3- Max. 12 Monate) an einer Partnerhochschule der Heimatuniversität in einem EU-Mitgliedstaat bzw. Island, Liechtenstein, Norwegen oder der Türkei
• Befreiung von Studiengebühren an der Gastinstitution!
• Akademische Anerkennung der im Ausland erbrachten Studienleistungen
  
• Zahlung eines Mobilitätszuschusses von ca. € 100 Monat, damit sollen die zusätzlichen Aufwendungen, wie Flüge etc. unterstützt werden
• Unterstützung bei der Vorbereitung auf den Auslandsaufenthalt und Betreuung durch die Gastinstitution
• Möglichkeit zur Teilnahme an einem vorbereitenden Intensiv-Sprachkurs in sog. europäischen, seltenen gesprochenen Sprachen (EILC) ( so gut wie alle Europäischen Sprachen ohne Englisch, Französisch, Spanisch)
• Für behinderte Studierende stehen Sondermittel zur Verfügung
• Für mitreisende Kinder gibt es einen zusätzlichen Zuschuss i. H.v. zur Zeit 250 Euro pro Monat im Ausland

The city of Rennes is filled with a variety of small, local restaurants (from traditional French cuisine to more international flavors) bars, cafés and discothèques.

The "Marché des lices", France's second biggest farmer's market, takes place every Saturday morning.  This is a perfect opportunity to discover the many local specialties (galette saucisse fromage, e.g.).

The many cinemas in Rennes propose an equally eclectic choice from "art-house fims" to hollywood blockbusters.

Rennes also benefits from great public transportation.  The STAR offers a bus and fully automated subway system that allow access to the entire city.

Based in the heart of the Rennes metropolitan area, the University of Rennes 2 is the largest research and higher learning institution in Arts, Letters, Social Sciences, and Humanities in the greater Western region of France.

Exchange students are allowed to follow all degrees (Studiengänge) of Middlesex University. It may be helpful to select a degree-programme and so to take the modules that regular students on that course would be taking. This avoids any timetabling issues, and helps the students to integrate more easily into the university. However, exchange students are welcome to select modules from across degree programmes and campuses if they prefer, though timetabling clashes may prevent some combinations, and they should be aware of the time and cost implications of travelling between campuses each week.

At Middlesex you choose "modules" instead of "courses", which in general yield 30 CREDITS, which are equivalent to 15 ECTS points.

Abteilung Internationales der Humboldt-Universität 

Die Abteilung Internationales organisiert den internationalen Austausch von Studierenden und Lehrenden von und an die Humboldt-Universität. Mehr als 5000 internationale Studierende studieren an der HU, das sind über 13 % aller Studierenden. Davon kommen jährlich ca. 1400 internationale Studierende über Austauschprogramme der Abteilung Internationales. Im Gegenzug gehen ca. 1100 Studierende der HU jedes Jahr ins Ausland, sei es zum Studium oder Praktikum. Die Abteilung Internationales organisiert Austauschprogramme für HU-Studierende wie das europäische ERASMUS-Programm, darüber hinaus pflegt sie diverse andere Universitätspartnerschaften. Sie informiert über Stipendien und Zuschüsse wie z. B. DAAD-Stipendien und länderspezifische Förderungsmöglichkeiten und vermittelt Auslandspraktika, beispielsweise über LEONARDO. Zudem stellt die Abteilung Internationales wichtige Informationen zum Auslandsaufenthalt bereit, so zur Auslandskrankenversicherung, Beurlaubung und zu Visafragen. We very warm welcome you at the Institute of Cultural Theory and History of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin!

If you want to study at our department, your faculty/institute of your home university needs to have a bilateral ERASMUS agreement. If your home university does not have a cooperation with the Cultural Department of the Humboldt-Universität so far, you may ask your International Office/ERASMUS Office if your home university is interested in establishing a new cooperation.

The complete application procedure is arranged by your home university. Once you have been nominated, we come into play

Course Selection

By the ERASMUS program you are expected to take courses that are in line with your study program of your home university. In your online application on "Uni Assist" as a Bachelor you are allowed to choose 2 subjects that match your studies at your home university, e. g. "Kulturwissenschaft" and "Europäische Ethnologie". As a Master you are only allowed to choose one subject. So, you would choose "Kulturwissenschaft". Those subjects/ This subject appears on your student ID, which you receive upon arrival/immatriculation here at Humboldt University.

Once the current course list (Das "Vorlesungsverzeichnis") is available you choose the courses within the two subjects /one subject for masters you have chosen.

Studying Cultural Theory and History may be new to you. Incoming students are encouraged to take the basic courses of the following modules:

• Theorien, Methoden, Kanon
• Gegenstände, Texte, Bilder, Dinge, Operationen
  
• Wahrnehmung, Imagination, Körper

Rather advanced modules in Cultural Theory and History are:

• Techniken, Praxen, Materialisierungen

You have alos access to course lists of prior semesters on the AGNES website, www.agnes.hu-berlin.de > Vorlesungsverzeichnis > Semesterwahl (at the left top).

ECTS:

According to the European Union guidelines every ERASMUS student should accomplish 30 ECTS points each semester.

ECTS treatment for Incoming students at the Department of Cultural History and Theory: Usually, you obtain for one lecture/one seminar 4 ECTS. For incoming exchange students it is possible to obtain 4 extra ECTS for every course, if they agree with the respective professor for an extra paper (short paper) or oral examination. It is for you the opportunity to earn more ECTS points if you need those. The 4 extra ECTS take into account the higher workload an incoming student faces regarding the german language and the maybe  newness of the content of the lectures at the Cultural Department.

 

Course and exam registration and transcript of records:

As an exchange student you register for courses and exams via the "Teilnahmebestätigung und Leistungsnachweis für Internationale Studierende". You fill it out at the beginning of the course and let the professor sign that you are allowed to follow the course and to write the exam. It is for you a garantuee that you are allowed to write the exam at the end of the semester. At the end of the semester the professor signs this document again after you have successfully written the exam/required paper.

To receive your Transcript of Records at the end of your stay you need to hand in ALL your Teilnahmebestätigungen und Leistungsnachweise in original during the office hours of your coordinator.
