Information for MA students

The MA study program in cultural history and theory started in the winter term of 2008/2009.

The focus is on:

1.    the history, mediality, aesthetics and materiality of knowledge that is generated and passed on through culture.

2.    the historiography and theory of cultural techniques (i.e. writing, reading, depicting, networking, calculating, measuring, playing, performing, designing, exchanging and remembering);

3.    observing and reconstructing the processes that constitute culture by means of social, media and cultural theories.

The study program offers points of contact to a number of other fields of empirical and historical cultural studies, as well as to the natural sciences. The requirement for admission is a completed first degree in a higher education program relevant to cultural history and theory.
