Projektleitung Experimentallabor CollActive Materials (2022–2025, gemeinsam mit Dr. Martin Müller)
CollActive Materials ist ein Experimentallabor der Berliner Exzellenzcluster »Matters of Activity« (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) und »Science of Intelligence« (Technische Universität Berlin), gefördert von der Berlin University Alliance. Ziel des Projektes ist es, spekulatives Design als neuen Ansatz für den Wissensaustausch zwischen Forschung, Gesellschaft und Design zu entwickeln und damit gemeinsame Begegnungen auf Augenhöhe möglich zu machen: Im Fokus des Experimentallabors steht das gemeinsame Spekulieren zu den Zukünften unseres Zusammenlebens. CollActive Materials versteht sich als experimentelles, transdisziplinäres Projekt, das materielle Alltagspraktiken aus diversen gesellschaftlichen Kontexten mit Forschungspositionen in ein offenes Gespräch bringt.
Projektleitung Latent Accumulations (seit 2024, gemeinsam mit Dr. Iva Rešetar, Exzellenzcluster »Matters of Activity«)
As a waxy substance derived from the industrial process of refining crude oil, paraffin is an energy material that is ostensibly inert, but »upsetting« in its infinite plasticity and movement. Residual and in-between solid and fluid—paraffin pollution is a recurring concern in coastal environments, yet one that is inherently difficult to detect and classify. The interdisciplinary project Latent Accumulations traces the elusive activity of paraffin in the context of spillage and debris accumulation on the Baltic coast of the Curonian Spit in Lithuania, a UNESCO World Heritage Site adjacent to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad. Positioned at the intersection of environmental media studies and environmental design, Latent Accumulations brings together perspectives from environmental and energy humanities, feminist spatial practices, and design. By conducting site-specific research into the material paraffin, the project investigates the uncertainty surrounding its emergence and origins, pointing to local extractive industries and broader oil infrastructures. Approaching phase transition as integral to environmental concerns, it examines the latency and persistence of residues in ways that tell us more about the present and future politics of material mixtures.
Mitglied im DFG-Netzwerk Flows. Schmiermittel der Theoriebildung (2025–2027)
Flows besitzen Anziehungskraft. Autor*innen verschiedenster Wissensfelder nutzen gezielt die Rede vom Strömen, um die Gegenwart sprachlich handhabbar zu machen. Die Ausgangsbeobachtung des Netzwerks ist, dass kultur- und medienwissenschaftliche Forscher*innen jüngst mithilfe von Metaphern und Konzepten des Strömens und Flüssigen groß angelegte Diagnosen einer umfassend vernetzten Welt erarbeiten. Diese Welt zeichnet sich durch die kontinuierliche Mobilität von Daten, Personen, Kapital, Ressourcen und Material aus. Flows sind dabei mehr als nur rhetorisches Beiwerk. Das Netzwerk untersucht Flows als Schmiermittel der Theoriebildung und fragt, wie belastbar hiermit entwickelte Beschreibungsangebote kultureller Logiken sind, wenn sie mit Semantiken von Leckage, Viskosität, Turbulenz und Stagnation konfrontiert werden.
